A ‘talented and enthusiastic operator’ was needed to run Leicester city center pub The Barley Mow

A new operator is sought for a well-known town center pub. The Barley Mow, located on Granby Street, needs an experienced manager to take charge of the site.

According to owner Admiral Taverns, The Barley Mow is a “fantastic venue” with early and late licensing, and outdoor and indoor spaces. It recently underwent a £75,000 refurbishment.

The ad company claims that live entertainment and community events are what will make this site successful. He adds that the upstairs reception room has great potential for the right person.

According to Admiral Taverns, they are looking for an experienced operator focused on music and entertainment who has a talent for appealing to all generations. The pub details say: “The pub company seeks to work with friendly, motivated and energetic individuals (or couples) who want to be part of this vibrant community, possess a passion for driving sales, promoting activities and to raise advertising standards.

“You will be an independent operator and work as a public limited company; you will take responsibility for PAYE and provide your team of employees with a company pension. The successful operator must be an experienced manager, capable of carrying out all typical duties including good knowledge of health and safety, confident customer skills, stock control, cellar management, cash management and accounting.”

Inside the pub

According to the ad company, the operator will receive an excellent package in return – including a generous percentage of weekly net sales and free online training for you and your staff members. The private accommodation consists of two bedrooms.

A spokesperson for Admiral Taverns told LeicestershireLive: “The Barley Mow is one of our operator-run pubs, part of our Proper Pubs estate. Located on Granby Street, it is a newly renovated venue with amazing indoor and outdoor space.

“It is close to rugby and football stadiums, it has great potential to attract sports fans, especially with an extended license and the train station within easy walking distance. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic operator with a passion for the community and good knowledge of the area.”
