About the position: Our expert beer guides create the shareable moments that make our educational craft beer experiences unforgettable! Beer guides lead groups of 3-14 guests on public tours and sometimes larger private groups on a journey through some of the best local craft breweries including Nightshift, Sam Adams and Cambridge Brewing Company, teaching invited the story of beer from grain to glass.

Your schedule: Guides can work a variety of shifts ranging from 2 to 6+ hours and double shifts may be available. This position would be a great addition to an existing full-time or part-time position. As an option, additional shifts will be available throughout the week, but Saturday availability is a must.

What you will do: You’ll pick up guests in a 14-passenger van and act as both designated driver and tour guide for the duration of the tour. You will create an engaging, fun and educational experience while advocating for safety and promoting a responsible appreciation of local craft beer for your guests.

Terms:

  • Passion and interest in craft beer and breweries

  • Availability evenings and/or weekends

  • Ability to manage time effectively

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to comfortably navigate city roads in a 14-passenger van

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI)

  • 21 years or older

Preferred qualifications:

  • Cicerone or BJCP Knowledge and/or Certification

  • Experience in home brewing or the beer industry

  • Tour guide, theater and/or improv experience

What you will receive:

Hourly wage + tips: $20/hour + tips. Tours last 2-5 hours and excellent tour guides can earn over $100 in tips per tour! Beer guides can also earn bonuses for positive reviews of their tours.

Ogrowth opportunities: As a constantly growing organization, we often add salaried positions and seek to promote from within. Our COO, CPO and Business Development Manager all started out as part-time beer guides.

Flexible availability: You tell us your regular availability and we will work with you to establish a schedule that suits everyone.

Cicero Certification: We will sponsor guides who will pass the level 1 and 2 certifications of the Cicerone certification program.

Free visit tickets: Guides are entitled to visit each city completely free of charge after a waiting period.

Retirement: 50% contribution up to a maximum of 4% of the employee’s contribution, after the waiting period.

Physical requirements: You will be required to drive a motorized vehicle safely. This includes the ability to remain seated for up to 60 minutes at a time while driving. You’ll need to stand and walk for at least 45 minutes at each stop on the tour, and you’ll also need the mobility to pour beer from pitchers to glasses at various locations.
