Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations (Flexible Location) at The Mission Continues

Through networks, training and pathways, Veterans can continue to serve while creating meaningful impact in underfunded communities. THE OPPORTUNITY The ongoing mission is looking for a dynamic leader to fill the position of Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. This person will develop and implement the strategy of a growing business and foundation relations program. He / she will oversee and implement the prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and growth strategy of a diverse portfolio of leading corporate and foundation funding partners. The Director will develop new existing funding partnerships that will ensure alignment between our mission and corporate social responsibility priorities and the foundation’s goals. This post will have a direct report. He / she will oversee the Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager, who will be responsible for the management and growth of the existing Intermediate Giving Program and new business support. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is a strategic thinker, creative problem solver, and strong relationship builder with the ability to navigate complex internal and external relationships. This individual has a passion for respecting and empowering our country’s veterans, and is comfortable working in a fast-start and innovative start-up environment. Location is flexible in the 40 cities where we have an active platoon presence. WHAT YOU WILL DO: – Create and lead a strategy to acquire and develop top-notch corporate and foundational relationships through top-notch prospecting, management and culture. – Oversee the manager who will oversee the relationship growth strategy with mid-level companies and foundations. – Implement a new business plan by conducting research and proactive outreach. – Manage a diverse portfolio of funders and connect regularly via phone, video conference and in-person meetings and events. – Actively support collaboration within and between departments and with key stakeholders. – Oversee the donor proposal process, stewardship and reporting for the donor portfolio. – Maintain accurate records of cultivation, solicitation and donor stewardship activities through the organizations CRM. – Support the Director of Development and the leadership team on donor management to maximize the results of their meetings with potential and current partners. – Create presentations, proposals, decks and reports for fundraising and stewardship. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR: – Confident and creative leader who is comfortable soliciting new relationships and cultivating existing ones. – Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape of businesses and / or foundations, particularly those with an interest in veterans and / or community impact. – Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ease of presentation and public speaking. – Strong organizational, prioritization and project / time management skills. – Familiarity with non-profit organizations and fundraising principles and practices. – Ability to successfully exercise discretion and independent judgment to achieve goals. – Detail oriented, highly organized, autonomous, able to take direction but working autonomously and in collaboration with a team. – A passion and a commitment to empower veterans and communities. – Must be flexible and able to work certain evenings and weekends, including up to 25% travel to various locations across the country.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: – Account management experience – Non-profit management experience preferred – Familiarity with Salesforce CRM – 9 to 12 years of related work experience TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: (Outside of the global pandemic). Must have the ability to travel to multiple cities across the United States. Multi-day and / or weekend trips will be required on program event dates for in-person events and online for virtual events. Flexible time is available. There can be long days with virtual programming that continues until late into the evening. Longer sessions can take place on weekends.
