Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral Mr. Shaheen Iqbal visited Mumbai on Wednesday and spoke with Indian Navy Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, General Officer Commanding Chief of Western Naval Command .

The two admirals discussed various issues relating to improving and strengthening interoperability, training, counterterrorism collaboration and comprehensive bilateral cooperation as part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, said today hui the Indian Ministry of Defense.

Admiral Hari Kumar, in his interaction with Admiral Shaheen Iqbal, said that India is proud to have contributed to the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971 and has immense respect for the role played and the sacrifices made by the people of Bangladesh in the war of liberation.

He also said that Indians enthusiastically participate in many events commemorating the Golden Jubilee of the Liberation of Bangladesh, reports our correspondent in New Delhi.

Admiral Hari Kumar also assured visiting Admiral Shaheen Iqbal that all assistance required for the successful conduct of the International Fleet Review by Bangladesh in 2022 will be extended.

The Indian naval officer also greatly appreciated the training cooperation between the Bangladesh and Indian navies and pointed out that personnel from both navies often train in courses such as special operations, la diving and aviation technology.

The current visit of the Bangladesh Naval Chief to India from October 22 to 29 is significant as it coincides with the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, the Defense Ministry noted.
