Primary responsibilities
The Site Head Coach is responsible for the organization and direction of the SMAC Mercer Island programs.
Responsibilities of the Site Head Coach
- Create an environment where families want their children.
- Establish a site culture where the learning process and individual responsibility are valued.
- Educate swimmers and families on the roles and value of technical excellence, commitment and competition to lay the foundation for top performance.
- Work with the head coach to define seasonal goals and objectives. With the support of the coaching staff, implement a team-wide plan to produce these results.
- Promote and develop the Mercer Island program among a self-sufficient number of swimmers (approximately 80-90).
- If applicable, help swimmers set goals.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the Mercerwood Shore Club.
- With the approval of the Head Coach, hire, supervise and train assistant coaches and verify coach certification requirements under USA Swimming and Pacific Northwest Swimming. This includes (a) developing a systematic coaching approach to be implemented by assistant coaches for all swimming levels in the program and (b) conducting periodic reviews and evaluations of coach performance. assistants.
- Hold periodic meetings between parents and the team to inform the parent community about team issues and events.
- Maintain current USA Swimming and Pacific Northwest Swimming coaching certification requirements
- Other tasks assigned by the head coach
Bridge time will be 3 to 6 p.m. per week between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. MF and 2 a.m. on Saturday morning. Schedule to be determined plus 4 to 6 hours of administrative time per week.
Degrees and preferences
Coaching experience of at least 3 years desired, with a preference for leadership roles.
Training in teaching or teaching.
Baccalaureate (Preferred, not required)
Training in dry land training or yoga is desirable. It is possible to work with other groups of the team for additional remuneration.
Salary & Benefits
Base salary $ 32,000- $ 38,000
