Interaction with learners

StarBistro in Cheltenham reopens with new menu – Gloucestershire food

Foodies, the time has come! The National Star’s StarBistro, on the Ullenwood outskirts of Cheltenham, has reopened with a brand new menu – and students can’t wait to welcome customers back.

Over the years, the award-winning bistro has helped National Star College learners gain work experience in the kitchen and front of house, preparing students for a future full of opportunity.

Chef Rob Skerritt has created an exciting menu – with student support – using ingredients sourced from across Gloucestershire, including dishes such as wild garlic and nut pesto pasta; kedgeree fish cakes; halloumi burgers; homemade cakes and more.

Pete Johnson, Head of Business and Social Enterprise at National Star, said: “During the pandemic, StarBistro has continued to provide crucial work experience for students while remaining open to staff.

“We are delighted to welcome the public again. This interaction is extremely important in developing student confidence and employability skills.

Jazzy, a student in residence at National Star, loves working indoors at StarBistro: “I’m excited to develop my customer service skills and become more confident with large groups of people.

“I want to become more confident, especially because I’m looking for work after I leave university.”

National Star students will serve customers from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
