Virginia Council on Economic Education seeks teachers for new personal finance development program

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – The Virginia Council on Economic Education is seeking applicants to join its new Virginia Personal Finance Teacher Fellowship program.

As a Personal Finance Educator Fellow, the educator will provide personal finance and professional development resources to other educators in their school, school division, or region. The program will allow the Virginia Council on Economic Education to focus more of its resources on other areas of the Commonwealth school system to have a stronger impact.

Qualifications required for teachers wishing to participate in the program include:

  • Teach in a school where 40% or more of the student population receives a free or reduced price lunch, or
  • 10% or more of the school’s teachers are tentatively licensed in Greater Richmond, Northern Virginia, Coastal Virginia, or the Roanoke Valley
  • Is a licensed teacher with a minimum of 3 years of full-time classroom teaching who consistently incorporates personal finance
  • Successfully completed a certification program in a VCEE Personal Finance Institute and/or passed the W!SE exam

Personal Finance Professor Scholars will earn an additional $1,500 in income, receive recertification hours for program orientation and training, and gain skills to add to a professional resume.
