Western Railway celebrated its 71st founding day with splendor and grace throughout the WR. On this historic day, the headquarters and division office buildings, several stations as well as heritage locomotives were specially illuminated with beautiful lights. To commemorate the occasion, tree planting campaigns were also undertaken across WR, led by Alok Kansal, Western Railway General Manager at Headquarters. Also in the divisional offices, the directors of the respective divisional railways and the railway officials participated in the tree planting campaign. To make this glorious occasion even more memorable, the Foundation Day ceremony was held on November 12, 2021 at Rail Nikunj, Mumbai Central. which was also broadcast live on YouTube. This ceremony was honored by Alok Kansal – General Manager of Western Railway and Ms. Tanuja Kansal – President of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization.
According to Sumit Thakur – public relations director of Western Rly, at the start of the function Alok Kansal – general manager of Western Railway, Smt Tanuja Kansal – president of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (WRWWO) with Prakash Butani – additional general manager of WR & Kamlesh Butani – WRWWO Vice President lit the ceremonial lamp. In its opening remarks, AGM – WR explained how Western Railway has embraced new technologies and kept pace with technological advancements, while preserving its glorious heritage.
